Harry Kane Foundation is proudly supporting the Royal British Legion Industries’ (RBLI) award-winning veteran employment programme, Lifeworks.

Lifeworks is a unique national scheme which offers 12 months of personalised employment and skills training, expert coaching and welfare support for veterans across all three of the armed services.

At the heart of the programme is a four-day, in-person course, held at various locations throughout the UK. During Mental Health Week 12-18 May 2025, the Lifeworks programme is running in Colchester with over 100 veterans taking part.

Lisa Farmer OBE, RBLI’s Chief Executive, said she was delighted to receive this significant new funding. “RBLI takes great pride in the impact of its Lifeworks programme, which proves to be simply life-changing for so many unemployed veterans. I offer my heartfelt thanks to the Harry Kane Foundation for its generosity and for helping us to continue to make a national impact,” she said.

"We assist veterans when they need it the most: many come to us having reached rock bottom, perhaps following redundancy, relationship breakdown, or financial crisis. Nothing is more important to us than opening new pathways and brighter futures. With Lifeworks, veterans can see and achieve their potential, the results speak for themselves."

Harry Kane shares this desire to help veterans overcome health and mental health challenges and thrive in civilian employment. He has shared a special message with veterans taking part in the Lifeworks programme during UK Mental Health Awareness Week. “I’m so proud of the veterans who have put themselves forward. It’s never easy talking about things that haven’t gone well but we must remember that isolation is dangerous too. During Mental Awareness Health Week, I’m encouraging everyone to talk more openly about setbacks and reconnect with others to look ahead. Lifeworks is a great example of the real benefits of doing this. Service men and women have much to offer – they are great team players. It is no surprise to me that 80% of veterans taking part secure work quickly. I am absolutely delighted that we can make this happen through my Foundation.”

Nearly 6,000 ex-service personnel have benefited from taking part in a Lifeworks programme since its founding in 2012, with 80% of delegates finding employment or training within 12 months of completing the programme.

Lifeworks has identified that mental health issues represent the most common barrier to employment for its delegates, with 64% reporting that they face mental health challenges including PTSD, anxiety and depression. The programme offers ongoing support in the field of managing mental health in the workplace, while its veterans’ sustained progress in the fields of employment, education and training is fundamental to the Lifeworks ethos.
